Certification signals enterprise-grade commitment to the advisors and employers who depend on MAP every day.
MAP Retirement, a national third-party administrator (TPA) supporting more than 10,000 employer retirement plans, today announced it has achieved SOC 2 certification — a rigorous, independently verified standard for data security, operational integrity, and system reliability that few firms in the TPA space have pursued, let alone attained.
The certification was awarded following a comprehensive audit conducted by Insight Assurance, a leading independent assurance firm. SOC 2 compliance requires organizations to demonstrate sustained, verifiable controls across security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy — standards more commonly associated with enterprise software companies than retirement plan administrators.
For financial advisors and the employers they serve, the distinction matters. Retirement plan administration sits at the intersection of sensitive employee data, complex regulatory requirements, and long-term financial outcomes. The question of who handles that work — and how — deserves a verifiable answer.
“SOC 2 certification isn’t a checkbox for us — it’s a reflection of the infrastructure, processes, and people we’ve built to operate at the level our partners deserve. We wanted to hold ourselves to the same standard we’d expect from any enterprise-tier partner.”
~Joe Burt, CEO
MAP Retirement
MAP partners with financial advisors across the country to administer a broad range of plan designs — including 401(k), profit sharing, defined benefit, and cash balance plans. As advisor practices grow and enterprise-level clients demand greater accountability from their service providers, MAP’s SOC 2 certification provides independently verified assurance that their clients’ data is protected.
The certification process required MAP to document and validate controls across its technology infrastructure, internal workflows, and personnel practices — a process that demands organizational maturity most smaller TPA firms are not positioned to undertake.
